About the webinarJCT is delighted to welcome delegates to the JCT Povey Lecture 2021, streamed as a live webinar. This year’s presentation is from Keith Waller, programme director, Construction Innovation Hub.

How can value based decisions drive construction's transformation?

Value is one of the four core themes of the Construction Innovation Hub's transformation programme, whose mission is to 'create better outcomes for current and future generations by driving the adoption of manufacturing and digital approaches that improve the delivery, resilience and performance of infrastructure'.

Keith Waller's presentation will explore how a value-focused approach that targets whole-life performance can result in more successful outcomes for projects, that all too often do not realise their intended value, despite being delivered on time and on budget.

Inconsistent approaches, a lack of alignment in decision making, and a narrow focus on controlling cost and managing risk in the capital phase are all contributing factors.

Keith will discuss how value does not just mean cost, nor should it be confined to the construction phase of projects, but must consider wider social, economic and environmental factors across the full investment lifecycle.
